Dvips fails in texlive 2022, texlive 2023 and MacTeX

I have a standard 160 page document which is typeset by creating a dvi file using LaTeX, and then converting to a ps file with dvips, and then converting the ps file to a pdf file using Ghostscript.

This chain works just as well today as always, on a Mac with a distribution installed by MacTeX.

Can you produce a particular source file which fails?
